The making of the Playbook and the Excellence through Balance workshops
Throughout my career, I have prioritized my life balance. I focused on defining success on my terms and deciding what my relationship with work would be. I optimized for me and for the important people in my life, not for external appearances or competitive urges. And I was able to maintain balance (at least most of the time).
During my 16 years at Microsoft Corporation, I coached and mentored many women and men. The topic of life balance often came up. As I am full of opinions and unsolicited advice, I found that I loved helping people with this topic. When I was asked give a presentation on work-life balance, I jumped at the chance. That presentation became the outline for this book.
The Life Balance Playbook: Over the last three years, I worked on the book between my work and home commitments. I was determined not to ruin my life balance to write a book about it. In fact, much of the book was written in 1 hour increments, sitting in the back of my minivan. The playbook was published in 2015 to critical acclaim and is an Amazon best-seller.
Excellence through Balance workshops: I created the workshops because I knew that many people who struggle with life balance (or work-life balance) would never think to get a book to help them. So wanted to bring the solution to the source.
My hope if that you will use the Playbook to build the life of balance you desire. I would love to hear from you! firstname.lastname@example.org
